Stephan Walker suggests the present road system has been designed "to discourage people from using their own transport and encourage them to use public transport" (The Argus, May 7).
That is as it should be. Encouraging people to use public transport is the way to cut congestion and we need sticks as well as carrots to do this.
It is not a criminal act, as Mr Walker suggests, but a civilised one. These actions do not "cause huge volumes of greenhouse gases to pollute the atmosphere", they help to reduce it.
Mr Walker can help to reduce congestion and pollution by leaving his car at home and taking the bus or riding a bike or, indeed, walking.
