When Adam Trimingham predicts that if terrorist were to bomb our stations next spring, "public revulsion against the attacks would lead to demonstrations in major cities on a scale at least as great as that seen in Spain", it is difficult to avoid inferring Lib Dem wishful thinking.

He has forgotten that the majority of Spaniards are against Spanish involvement while the majority of Britons are not.

We are also more prepared for such an event as we were for the IRA's attacks.

Lib Dems have a vested interest in keeping Iraq before the public eye but even they, I believe, do not think we should pack up immediately and leave the Iraqis to their own devices.

We now know that even the Iraqis don't want us to leave immediately but make the country more secure first.

This is what we should all be working for so that in June we can bring the troops home. There are enough Jeremiads around.
