Your illuminating survey of local MPs' voting records points out that labour MPs "had a better voting record than those from opposition parties, as would be expected" (The Argus, January 5).

I fail to see why one should expect opposition MPs to vote less than government MPs. The job of an opposition is to oppose!

Moreover, the Government has a massive majority which might lead some Labour MPs to skip voting - but not local Labour MPs it seems.

Your report points out that Ivor Caplin leads the list.

Perhaps those who seek to denigrate his efforts on behalf of his constituents could take note.
