Eastbourne Town manager Dave Winterton was delighted after his side cruised to a 4-1 win away to first division leaders Chichester.

Graham Holman scored twice as Chi suffered only their second league defeat of the season.

Winterton said: "We were absolutely superb. This performance more than made up for losing in midweek and all the lads were magnificent."

Town went ahead in the second minute when Holman headed home from an Adam Davidson flick but Paul Thomas levelled for Chi seconds later.

Five minutes before the break Luke Denton fired into the top corner from 25 yards and early in the second half he was involved in the visitors' third when his deep free kick found Davidson who arrived late in the box to head home. Holman completed the scoring with another header late on.

East Preston defeated a battling Horsham YMCA side 2-0 to go second in the table.

Matt Huckett scored the opener on 25 minutes when he finished from a Simon Clayton cross but the home side had to wait until the last minute to add to their lead. Substitute Lee Farrell settled the nerves when he rounded the keeper and slotted home.

Fourth placed Hassocks came back from a goal down to take all three points in a 2-1 win at home to Redhill.

Home keeper Joel Harding gifted Redhill the lead with a costly error in the wet conditions. Hassocks had to wait until the hour to draw level when Pat Harding rifled in from 25 yards from James Laing's pass. Harding then forced a winner when his corner flew in off a defender.

Three players went sent off as East Grinstead won 3-1 in an eventful game at home to Sidlesham.

After a goalless first half, Phil Thompson put the Wasps ahead direct for a corner, then Grinstead's Kevin Wright and Sidlesham's Ben Johnson were sent off for violent conduct.

When Glen Bridgeman handled on the line, he was shown the red card. Dave Gellatly's penalty was saved but referee Darren Eaton ordered a retake because Bridgeman was still walking off the pitch when the ball was launched downfield.

Gellatly then scored at the second attempt and Steve Banks headed Grinstead 3-0 ahead before Scott Tipper hit a late consolation.

Tobi Hutchinson grabbed a hat-trick as Hailsham won 3-1 at Selsey. The striker hit his first on 40 minutes from Nick Barden's cross.

The hosts started brightly in the second half but Hutchinson scored against the run of play after superb work by Scott French. He completed his hat-trick with ten minutes to go. Andre Rodrigues got Selsey's consolation.
