With reference to the vacant plinth in Trafalgar Square, surely this should be occupied by one of our really famous heroes?

No, he never kicked a ball, wasn't a pop idol, TV cook or any of the many and deserved being honoured today.

He gave his life, his health, all his money and - like George Everest - is more or less forgotten. Can there be anyone more suited to be immortalised here?

Who? John Logie Baird, or will it be some disgusting filthy object from the "Arts"?

Wake up and don't forget the real hero.
