Pop stars from boy band Blue caused mayhem during a drinking binge at a seafront hotel.

Singer Lee Ryan, 20, got drunk on absinthe at the bar of Alias Hotel Seattle in Brighton Marina before soaking the deputy manager with a fire extinguisher.

The pop star later shocked guests by running back into the bar wearing a bra before asking a woman to "squeeze my boob".

Ryan was with fellow band member Anthony Costa, 21, and a group of about 30 people from their entourage.

When they became boisterous, the deputy manager asked them to be quiet but he was sprayed with a fire extinguisher.

The Blue party had booked 30 of the 71 bedrooms at the hotel during a visit to the city at the weekend as part of their national tour.

They performed to a packed Brighton Centre on Saturday and Sunday night.

A spokesman for the group said: "There was no offence meant. It was just high jinks."

The band has also promised to reimburse guests who were kept awake.

The hotel refused to discuss the incident, stating it did not comment on the behaviour of its guests.

The incident was the second controversy sparked by the band during their visit to the city.

Their performance at the Brighton Centre included a tribute to Michael Jackson, who has recently been arrested on a warrant alleging he committed lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14.

The pop quartet sang three of Jackson's songs before saying: "We love Michael Jackson."

Jackson, 45, has denounced the allegations made against him as "a big lie".

Ryan has also been in trouble for drinking before.

In August he was given an 18-month driving ban at Tower Bridge Magistrates Court after he admitted being almost twice over the legal drinking limit.

He was caught out when he almost collided with a police car in his Porsche at 4am on August 11 in London.

During the case, Ryan's defence Neill Blundell said the singer accepted he was "both foolish and irresponsible".
