David Panter, criticised for lavishly wining and dining people from public funds, clearly has the support and sympathy of council leader Ken Bodfish who says "David has to meet these people on a regular basis and has to buy them cups of tea and take them out to lunch".

Can this be the same Ken Bodfish who accompanied Mr Panter and representatives of Brighton Festival to Scotland on a "fact-finding" trip when £289 pounds was spent at a restaurant described as being trendy with an eclectic wine list?

The Argus revealed the booze alone, which included six bottles of wine, cost £106.

Could it be that Mr Bodfish imbibed nothing but tea?

Perhaps he could be kind enough to let us know as it's our money.
