Former Albion boss Peter Taylor could make a permanent bid for Michel Kuipers.

The Dutchman has been reunited with Taylor at Hull on a month's loan after losing out to Ben Roberts in the battle to be the Seagulls No. 1.

Kuipers makes his debut for the Tigers in the reserves against Sheffield Wednesday tonight and Taylor has not ruled out the possibility of trying to keep him for good.

"At the moment I have definitely taken him just for a month as cover for Alan Fettis, who is injured, but I rate Michel it's as simple as that," revealed Taylor.

"If he comes and plays and does well then who knows?

"I like him. He is a dedicated goalkeeper and he had a tremendous season when I was at Brighton. If his kicking could be tidied up he would be in the top league."

Ross Flitney, Kuipers' 19-year-old replacement on a month's loan from Fulham, makes his debut for Albion tonight.

The former Arsenal schoolboy features for the reserves in their first home game of the season against old rivals Crystal Palace in a Pontin's Holiday Cup group fixture at Woodside Road, Worthing (7pm).

Simon Rodger is expected to resume training today after missing the last two matches with a groin injury.

Paul Watson was also sidelined from the games against Luton and Plymouth with a problem which has now been diagnosed as torn fibres in foot arch tendons.

Boss Steve Coppell said: "It is both feet, which is very unusual.

"He's had injections, so it's just a question of waiting to see now how it settles down."

Coppell has not ruled Watson out of Saturday's clash against Swindon at Withdean.

"He's a great pro and if there is any chance he'll be there. Saturday is the first of seven games in 24 days, so I think we are going to need everyone during that period.

"It's going to be demanding that's for sure. There isn't a club in the Second Division with massive depth in their squad, so everyone is vulnerable."

Robbie Pethick, who was left out on the bench Plymouth, plays for the reserves tonight.

Albion Reserves: Flitney, El-Abd, Virgo, Pethick, Bridle, Piercy, Wilkinson, Hammond, Lee, McPhee, Robinson, May, B.Watson, Breach, Fillery, Elphick, Piper.
