I have just read the article "Unholy ding-dong over church bells" (The Argus, August 30) with amusement.
My family and I lived at 20 Priory Field, four minutes walk to St Peters Church, for several years before emigrating to Australia in 1971 - not because of the bells I hasten to make clear.
May I suggest, from one senior citizen to another, Mr McCarthy be thankful for a peaceful life (95 per cent of the time) or take a bus trip on bell-ringing day.
