The ingredients of this anarchic act may seem set to lead you into a Benny Hill-style farce at first.

However, the quality of the performances and the original nature of the humour lifts what could easily be ridiculous into the truly fantastic.

It is a magnetic cauldron of ludicrous clowning with skilled performances from circus artists, street performers, musicians and other exotic folk.

There is song, dance, acting sketches and improvisation held together by a loose and random plot featuring larger-than-life characters and creatures who have a habit of behaving in a hysterical fashion.

Past characters have grown scales and turned into beasts, dressed up in unflattering white underwear and rabbit ears and done a song/dance routine to Bright Eyes.

This camp riot of a night's entertainment is hosted and performed by a married couple, the so-called debonair Morris and demented Lennie.

Not only are the pair experts at ad lib, ignoring scripts and adapting and developing the show according to heckles and unexpected events they are also masters at getting an audience going.

The show often starts with the snake dance, where up-for-it individuals lead their crowd in a frantic pretence that their arms are snakes.

Daft it may sound, but it's also weird, unpredictable, hysterical, off-the-cuff and unique.

This month's night of twisted showbiz will feature psycho nurses, electro-thrills and hot wax in a night of weird and seriously unhinged entertainment.

Special guests include the legendary graphic artist Vince Ray with his band the Vincent Razorbacks playing broken blues garage punk plus a real live electrocution show from The Great Voltini.

Starts 8.30pm, tickets £8/£6. Call 01273 647100.
