Crawley's assistant manager Vic Bettineli admits he 'lost it' after he was ordered from the dugout during Tuesday's premier division game at Dover.

Bettineli was banished to the stands during the first half of the 2-2 draw for protesting to an assistant over the build-up to Dover's first equaliser and faces a fine.

He said: "It was a diabolical decision but I just lost the plot.

"I don't normally criticise officials because they have a hard enough job as it is but the guy was trying to shepherd the ball out and backing into Paul Armstrong at the same time and he gave the free-kick to them. It was unbelievable."

Boss Francis Vines will not be carrying out his threat to interrupt his holiday to try to get Reds' season up and running after they picked up a point from their opening two fixtures.

But they badly need good results in this weekend's games against Bath City and Havant and Waterlooville.

"It's been disappointing because in both games we have created more than enough chances to have won," added Bettineli.

"We've also got to stop conceding stupid goals from setpieces. Neither of the teams we've played have frightened me but we have got to get going soon."

Daniel Marney, who missed the Dover game with an ankle injury, is poised to return at the expense of Fabian Forde.

Mo Harkin and Peter Fear, who returned after injury on Tuesday, are also in contention for starting places in midfield.

Joff Vansittart, Justin Gregory and Warren Bagnall are all sidelined.
