Shepherd Neame League: George Campbell will have more reason than most to hope Hastings Priory tie up the title tomorrow.

Priory can make sure of retaining their crown if they take 30 points at Steyning and Horsham fail to pick up 16 points from their home game with Eastbourne.

Campbell was one of the key men in pushing Priory to the brink of the title by hitting 200 in last week's win over Worthing.

It was the highest score in games between two clubs in the top flight this season and equalled Michael Bright's double ton for Horsham against the Sussex Development XI.

Campbell heads back to Switzerland after tomorrow's game to resume his off-season job as a cricket teacher.

Hastings' Andy Cornford said: "He will be keen to get it finished before he goes but we all want to get the job done.

"One of the targets we set ourselves this season was to avoid going into the last game still needing a certain amount of points to win the league.'

Richard Jackson (back) is struggling to be fit for tomorrow and Hastings have a host of problems ahead of Monday's Gray-Nicolls Cup final with Horsham.

After last year's seemingly successful experiment of playing the final under lights at the County Ground, the showpiece has been moved to Worthing this year.

The league were unable to reach agreement with the county club over various aspects of staging the game.

League chairman Terry Burstow insisted the decision had nothing to do with groundsman Derek Traill, who is known to be very supportive of club cricket.

Burstow added: "We were given various conditions to us playing the game at Hove."

Monday's game starts at noon.
