IM Fleming has got the wrong end of the stick by wanting a Married Parade (Letters, August 12).
The gay and lesbian community has for many years been trying to promote awareness of itself as a part of society and uses Pride to show it can bring colour and enjoyment into our lives.
Why can't we accept it is the 21st Century?
Our scientific knowledge must be sufficient to realise that the strict male/female concept is outdated and everyone is different in some way.
Gay and lesbian people were created as they are and are not some kind of "club" which anyone can be encouraged to join.
We should value all members of society.
