A man whose girlfriend was having an asthma attack drove to pick up her prescription knowing he was over the drink-drive limit.
Paul Wallbridge, 32, was just over the limit when he was stopped by police who saw him driving a Ford Escort van in Courtwick Road, Littlehampton, on June 10.
Worthing Magistrates Court heard how officers could smell alcohol on his breath.
Wallbridge, of Linden Park, Littlehampton, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol and driving with no insurance.
He will be sentenced at Chichester Crown Court on September 5.
