Accountant Ron Jones says he was tortured into confessing to a terrorist bombing in Saudi Arabia.

Yet his bid to sue the Saudi government for more than £2 million in compensation was blocked by the High Court on the grounds of state immunity.

Mr Jones has vowed to take the case to the Court of Appeal and he should be given every help to do so.

It is only right his claims of false imprisonment, torture and violation of human rights should be examined closely and impartially.

If what Mr Jones says is true, it is a shocking story, which caused him enormous physical and psychological suffering to the point where he is no longer able to work.

The Saudi regime is notoriously secretive. It should be called on to put its case in public against these claims.
