Councillor Battle calls me a persistent critic of the council's approach to parking (Letters, July 23).

This is because the council has persistently failed to do anything about the problems it has created.

If the council doesn't get its new schemes right, there will probably be no modification for two years.

It will write and acknowledge the problem exists but it won't actually do anything.

After two years, in zone N, it has got around to sending out questionnaires - and those aren't being sent to residents made worse off by the zone N scheme.

Councillor Battle simply doesn't answer the simple question I asked him. Is two years a reasonable wait?

And it doesn't sound like he visits the areas he controls. In the bad old days, he says, "illegally parked cars caused congestion on main traffic routes" and "double-parking blocked emergency vehicle access."

But, councillor, it was you who doubled the problem of double-parking in Westbourne, which continues two years on.

And it was you who created a system which leads people to display bogus disabled parking badges the length of Church Road and Western Road.
