Fans at the launch of a beach soccer tournament in Brighton held a minute's silence in honour of tragic Cameroon international Marc-Vivien Foe.
A crowd of more than 1,000 people at Brighton's annual Kronenbourg Cup observed the tribute to the former Manchester City player who collapsed and died after playing in Cameroon's 1-0 win over Colombia in the Confederations Cup.
It is thought the player had a heart attack. Doctors battled for more than an hour to revive him before he died on Thursday night.
Last night's silence took place before the opening match of the three-day Pro Beach Soccer tournament.
The players in the opening England v Portugal game also wore black arm bands as a mark of respect.
France played Italy and an exhibition match followed between Brighton and Hove Albion All-Stars and Southampton.
Tickets for the tournament, sponsored by The Argus, cost £9.50 (adults), £5.50 (children under 12) and £25 (family of four (two adults, children under 12).
They are available on 0870 9009100 or from the Brighton Centre.
