Martin Lee is through to the second round of the men's doubles at Wimbledon.
The Worthing left-hander partnered fellow Brit Miles MacLagan to a 7-6 7-6 6-4 victory against Scott Humphries from the US and Mark Merklein of the Bahamas.
They now Merklein's compatriot Mark Knowles and Canadian Daniel Nestor, the No. 2 seeds.
Hove's Julie Pullin and Elena Baltacha were beaten 6-1 6-1 in the first round of the women's doubles by Australian Trudi Musgrove and Elena Tatarkova from the Ukraine.
Pullin, beaten in the first round of the singles for the ninth year running, completed a miserable hat-trick last night with an instant exit from the mixed doubles.
She partnered Jonathan Marray to a 6-2 7-6 defeat against 16th seeds Mariano Hood from Argentina and Slovenian Tina Krizan.
