A father and son have been charged over the death of Sussex barman Colin Stewart.

James Venn, 23, of Highfield Drive, Hurstpierpoint, has been charged with manslaughter, and his father Mark Venn, 44, of Street Lane, Ardingly, has been charged with a public order offence.

Both men were appearing at Crawley Magistrates' Court today.

James Venn was being held in custody overnight while Mark Venn was given conditional police bail.

Mr Stewart, 32, of Hanbury Lane, Haywards Heath, collapsed with a blood clot on his brain an hour after a fight at the Esso petrol station in Franklynn Road, Haywards Heath, at 12.15am on Saturday.

He died on Wednesday morning in hospital.

A post-mortem examination found he died of head injuries.
