Sussex 2nd XI gained their first win in three one-day Trophy games by thrashing Surrey after some impressive bowling by Jason Voros and Paul Hutchison.

Voros was the pick of the Sussex bowlers snapping up 4-22 and was ably assisted by Paul Hutchison who finished with figures of 3-43.

Sussex stormed home by eight wickets at Sutton with a healthy 22 overs in hand after skittling out Surrey for 164 in 43.3 overs.

Mike Yardy fell for 22 and Richard Montgomerie for 27 before Carl Hopkinson (63) and Tony Cottey (43) eased Sussex home by sharing an unbroken third wicket stand of 112.

Hopkinson fired 13 fours from 70 balls and Cottey also scored at a run-a-ball with eight boundaries.

Australian-born left arm pace bowler Voros, who did well on trial for the seconds two years ago and is currently qualifying for ECB registration, included Alex Tudor (46) and Chris Murtagh (29) among his victims.
