A few days ago, whiIe out shopping in Brighton, I had the misfortune to trip over, badly cutting my face and bruising myself.
This happened close to The Pressure Point Pub, on the corner of Richmond Place and Richmond Parade.
I was helped inside where the staff couldn't have been more helpful in looking after me, providing materials to staunch the bleeding and cold water and ice.
I would like publicly to express my thanks to them and, particularly, the manager, who subsequently drove me to an accident and emergency department.
Unfortunately, their attitude was in marked contrast to that of a nurse, who intimated that I must have been drunk.
I received chivalry and compassion from the publican and his staff but none from the NHS, from which I am now, thankfully, retired.
