James Kirtley returns for Sussex when they wind up their Twenty20 Cup campaign against Kent at Hove tonight.

Kirtley has been with England's one-day squad for the NatWest Challenge against Pakistan but returns to county duty after Somerset's Richard Johnson declared himself fit for the forthcoming triangular series.

Director of cricket Peter Moores says Kirtley will play in the floodlit clash (7.30pm), but he admitted that it will be a tough decision deciding who he replaces.

"James is keen to get up and running again after not doing a lot for the past week. But the other bowlers have done well in the two Twenty20 games we have won so whoever is left out will be entitled to feel disappointed."

Surrey's win over Kent last night means Sussex still have a chance of reaching the knockout stages if they win and other results go their way.

Another 3,000-plus crowd is expected in a competition which has caught the imagination of players and spectators.

"The Middlesex and Essex games were fantastic occasions to be part of and we're hoping for another one tonight," said Moores.

"Even if there is nothing on it I still think the public will turn up. The players have absolutely loved it and it would be brilliant if we knew beforehand that there was some sort of permutation which would enable us to reach the finals."
