Wisdom Cup: There was a feast of runs as a new record aggregate score was rattled up as hosts Balcombe beat Horsted Keynes in a thrilling quarter-final clash.

In a remarkable match, Balcombe smashed their way to 317-7 off their 40 overs with Alan Smith (74), Bill Anthony (56), Bob Newcombe (40) and 59 extras keeping the scorers busy.

In reply, Keynes had a real go with Lyle James coming in at No. 7 and cracking 121 as Martin Emmerson (41) and extras again (43) saw them dismissed for 287 in 37.2 overs as James Bailey (4-54) and Tim Wall (3-30) returned the best figures.

Newchapel and Plumpton also had a high-scoring match.

Visitors Plumpton were put in and raced to 286-7 with Charlie Wycherley making 104 and Martin Brackpool 72 as Andy Kerby (3-47) tried to apply the brakes.

In reply, Newchapel were dismissed for 189 in 35 overs despite Alan Lovelock's 97 as Gary Plummer (3-10) and Paul Brinkhurst (3-41) did the damage.

Dormansland's fine season continued as they got home with a ball to spare against home side Poynings.

Chasing a target of 172-7 (Matt Cutress 83 not out), fine knocks by Paul Summerton (51) and later Chris Musgrove (47 not out) helped produce a five-wicket win.
