A man had to be cut free after two vans collided near Shoreham Airport during this morning's rush hour.
There was traffic chaos when the A27 was closed at the Sussex Pad Hotel, Lancing.
Tailbacks stretched for several miles in both directions and the nearby A259 coast road was blocked as motorists looked for alternative routes.
The accident happened in the outside lane of the eastbound carriageway at 7am.
Firefighters freed one driver and he was taken to hospital.
