Shepherd Neame Sussex Premier League: Champions Hastings moved to the top of the table following Saturday's comfortable win at Worthing.

Previous leaders Steyning dropped to second after their first defeat of the campaign against Brighton and Hove.

Worthing struggled to 92 all out at the Manor Ground.

Former Sussex batsman Dominic Clapp top scored with 28 as John Morgan took 3-32, Chris Topp 2-6 and Matt Love 2-29.

Hastings also found it tough but eventually won at 93-5.

Richard Jackson led the way with 37 not out and James Pooley made 23. Ben Shelford was the pick of the Worthing bowlers with 2-27.

Sussex Academy director Keith Greenfield was the match-winner for Brighton and Hove in their six-wicket win at Steyning.

The home side were dismissed for 197, thanks to a ninth-wicket stand between Glen Jones (38) and David Mates (37) as Andy Sartor grabbed 5-36.

Greenfield made sure of victory with 90 not out as Brighton reached 200-4.

Paul Hutchison played for Steyning after being replaced by James Kirtley in the county game at Tunbridge Wells.

Chichester enjoyed their fourth win of the season by seven wickets against Stirlands.

The home side crashed to 111 all out with Barry Meaney (27) making the top score and Sean Heather contributing 21.

Aussie Kim Wulff took 4-36 and skipper Nick Dyer celebrated his Play-Cricket.com player of the month award with figures of 3-12. The Scottish off-spinner has 24 wickets this season.

Daniel Oliver (45) led the Chichester victory bid although the Stirlands did not help themselves by conceding 33 extras in a winning score of 112-3.

Zimbabwean Richard Sims (102 not out) helped East Grinstead to 252-3 declared at Horsham. His innings included 12 fours and two sixes.

Paul Harrison (61) and skipper Alex Edwards (41) also weighed in as the visitors won by 28 runs.

Horsham were dismissed for 224 with Luke Marshall making 72 and Scott Stratton 37. Edwards led the wicket-takers with 3-44, Leigh Harrison took 2-36 and Sims completed a good day with 2-75.

Horsham lost all-rounder Paul Gallagher who fractured his collarbone when fielding.

Skipper Danny Alderman led from the front as Three Bridges recorded their first win of the season when beating Eastbourne by three wickets.

In a modest Eastbourne total of 154, Martin Garnett made 42, Paul Stevens 24 and Jack Hepburn 33. Alderman took 3-27, Andy Nicholls 3-37 and Conrad Mumby 3-55 to keep the visitors' batting in check.

The skipper then hit 46, which included three sixes and six fours. He was particularly severe on Sussex newcomer Sean Rashid who finished with 4-81 while John Lord grabbed 3-31 as Bridges reached 155-7.
