Henry Ledden and John Morgan shared a last wicket stand of 48 to lead the Sussex Cricket Board to a thrilling one-wicket victory over Sussex seconds at Hove.

Chasing a target of 272 in 50 overs, the Board got home with just four deliveries to spare with Hastings' fast bowler Morgan (24) getting the winning runs off Mike Yardy.

A mis-field by Nitto Davis clinched it for the Board after Ledden (30) got a single off Yardy's first ball.

The 2nd XI had looked favourites after the Board had slumped from 197-4 to 224-9 with pace bowler Davis removing both Richard Jackson (49) and Jason Finch (40) in successive overs.

Carl Hopkinson earlier smashed 101 off only 108 balls and added 152 for the second wicket with Yardy (81) as the 2nd XI posted 271-4.

Hopkinson hammered seven fours and three sixes and Yardy stroked eight fours. Trialist Ashley Wright hit an unbeaten 49.
