We agree with Doug Lawrence (The Argus, June 2) that the current buildings and facilities at Brighton General Hospital are unsuited to the needs of a modern hospital.
The Brighton, Hove and Sussex University Hospitals Trust also recognises this and has long term plans to relocate these wards to the Royal Sussex Hospital.
In the meantime, we are concerned with the environment experienced by patients today and in the coming decade.
We wholly supported Trust plans to build a new block on the Brighton General site and completely refurbish the remaining wards.
Alas, the promised government funding has not been forthcoming.
If Doug has the ear of Alan Milburn, maybe he can intercede on behalf of local citizens.
