A terrified woman woke to find a man strolling into her bedroom.
She ordered him out but he walked downstairs, curled up in a ball on the floor and asked to sleep there.
The woman, 27, repeatedely ordered him out and he finally left.
She later discovered he had stolen a bank card, mobile phone and cash.
The burglary happened at 5am on Saturday and police are appealing for witnesses in the area.
The burglar is black, in his mid 20s, about 6ft with a short Afro hair.
He wore a dark green hooded top over a white shirt, black trousers made of shiny material and trainers.
He muttered when he spoke and may have been on drugs at the time.
PC Sarah Godley said: "It is anyone's worst nightmare to wake up and find a stranger in their home.
"I need anyone who recognises this man or saw him in the area to call me."
