How much longer have allotment holders to wait until something is done to stop juvenile delinquents smashing up their property and destroying water butts, tools, plants and vegetables?

Last week, it was allotments on the Neville site. This week, it is Weald Avenue site.

Every year, we pay more allotment rents and get nothing done. Every year, we pay more council taxes and give more to the police and still nothing is done.

Do allotment holders have to get together and form their own vigilante group to stop these delinquents and make them or their parents pay for the vandalism?

Three years ago, at the annual meeting, it was agreed notices should be put on all gates stating that no children are allowed on the allotments unless with an allotment holder.

All members agreed to this but no notices have been put up.

It was also stated that people nearby who don't have an allotment have no right to be on the site but there are people who come on to the allotments via their back gardens to let their dogs run and mess on footpaths and others who take short cuts because they are too lazy to walk along the streets.

What hope do the allotment holders have?
