Pupilsgot an unexpected long weekend when classes were cancelled after their school flooded.
Several classrooms and two corridors at Durrington High School, The Boulevard, Worthing, were deluged on Monday when a pipe burst.
Hazel Lee, the headteacher's personal assistant, said: "It flooded a few classrooms and cut off corridors, so that thoroughfare through the school was impossible.
"In a school this size, the safety of the children is the most important thing, so we took the decision it would be best to close the school.
The GCSE exams carried on as normal in the sports hall.
