Rye and Iden United face a double date with destiny this weekend and Westfield stand in their way on both occasions.

A victory away to Westfield on Monday will take Rye a step closer to winning the County League division two title.

Before then, the two sides clash in the Division Two Cup final at Eastbourne Town tonight.

A quirk in the fixture list has meant the teams meeting twice this weekend and Rye know victory will have to be hard-earned in both games.

Although Rye won the corresponding league fixture 3-0 in January, Westfield beat their local rivals 3-2 in the Sussex RUR Cup earlier in the season.

Rye player-boss Keith Miles said: "I would like to think we can win both games. It is just down to attitude.

"I have been saying to the boys if we have the right mentality and the right attitude we can win the cup and win the league. It is well and truly in our hands."

Rye will be without leading scorer Scott Price, who has failed to recover from an ankle injury, but striker Shaun Loft hopes to be fit. Paul Tuppenney is currently serving a long suspension.

Westfield manager Steve Johnson said: "It is a final and a one-off. If we play to our ability and they perhaps don't play to theirs, then we have a chance."

Goalkeeper Paul Worthington is chasing an unlikely hat-trick. He has saved penalty kicks in his previous two games.
