Sussex MP Nicholas Soames blew his top in exasperation with the Liberal Democrats, exclaiming "Bloody hell!" in the House of Commons.

The Tory MP's frustrations were recorded in Hansard - the second time he has turned the pages of the official Parliamentary record blue.

Earlier this year, Mr Soames, MP for Mid Sussex, became one of the first politicians to appear in the official record as saying "bo**ocks".

The MP's latest outburst came during a lengthy speech on the Budget by Lib Dem Treasury spokesman Matthew Green.

After speaking for more than 20 minutes, Mr Green indicated he had not quite run out of steam. He said: "The final point I want to touch on . . ."

At this point, Hansard records Mr Soames as shouting: "Bloody hell!".

His disquiet may have been caused by the fact he was trying to speak in the debate, which took place on the day before Parliament broke for the Easter recess.

Mr Soames got to speak some 40 minutes after Mr Green sat down, warning the Government a survey in Mid Sussex had warned of job cuts.

The survey, carried out by Mr Soames, examined the impact of a 1p in the pound increase in National Insurance contributions, which hits workers and their employers.

He said seven per cent of businesses were planning redundancies as a direct result of the increase.

A further 28 per cent warned of a slowdown in recruitment, while 72 per cent expect fewer profits and 35 per expect to increase prices.

Mr Soames said the survey had also revealed widespread anxiety about Government red tape.

He read a letter from Mike James, managing director of Bio-Productions in Burgess Hill.

It said: "I spend three quarters of my time looking after staff problems and complying with worthless legislation.

"If I could get out and meet customers more, and those could get out and pay more attention to their customers, just imagine how much more business could be done".
