Everise were once described as a cross between Pink Floyd and The Doors. There is also more than a passing resemblance to Queens Of The Stone Age and Biffy Clyro.
But such comparisons do not do justice to the band's unique sound.
Concorde 2 was a fitting venue that suited Everise's in-your-face sound well. The talented Brighton five-piece performed a set that spanned the spectrum from thumping rock to moreish melodies.
The audience was hooked from the start, pulsing to the rhythmic Hoc and standing mesmerised at the melodic harmonies of My Utmosphere.
Cast Iron Free displayed hints of Radiohead while Things You Stole carried strains of New Order.
However, despite such diverse influences, Everise's tracks are homegrown and they performed as if they had been doing it all their lives.
The band's performance illustrated they are not averse to a bit of kicking and screaming themselves.
