Daniel Hildreth says Worthing Thunder are ready for the play-offs after bringing their regular season to a fabulous finale.

Thunder came from 13 points down in the third quarter to beat Plymouth 82-77 before a bumper crowd at Durrington and clinch a home tie with Manchester in the last eight next Saturday.

They led 75-73 with 17 seconds to go when Hildreth, in inspiring form at point guard, let fly from three yards outside the arc as the shot clock expired.

He was flattened by Gavin Love but saw the ball fly in as he fell backwards. He then added the extra point to virtually settle the contest.

Hildreth admitted: "I had one second to shoot and I put up a prayer.

"It was awesome but that was just one play in the whole game. We showed great character as a team and pulled off a fantastic win.

"That felt like a play-off game and it sets us up now."

It was dramatic stuff, although with the talent in their squad, Thunder should not be waiting until the last weekend of the season to clinch fourth place.

Plymouth, who finished second, led 66-54 when Inyo Cue finished the third period with a three-pointer.

A trio of fabulous dunks from Lavoris Jerry helped Thunder turn it around.

They opened the fourth quarter with a 13-2 run and were level when Nick O'Harabe, who had ten rebounds in a fine display, converted a Ramy Malik pass with 2min.30sec to play.

Hildreth set up O'Harabe to open a 75-73 lead, then landed the decisive blow himself.

Thunder: Jerry 24, Moore 19, Hildreth 17, O'Harabe 12, Malik 6, Addy 2, Brame 2.

Plymouth: Beasley 25, Cue 15, Wellington 13, Riley 10, Williams 8, Love 6.

Thunder beat Hackney 126-86 last night, helped by 24 points apiece from Marvin Addy and Damien Harris.
