Worthing took their tally to nine goals in the last two home games with a confidence-boosting 5-2 victory over Croydon in division one south.

Rebels had failed to score in six of their previous eight games at Woodside Road before producing a 4-3 win over Windsor and Eton last week.

There were five different scorers against Croydon, with four of Rebels' efforts coming in the last 32 minutes after Mark Knee's 50th goal for Worthing had been cancelled out by a fluke of an equaliser from Jamie White.

Manager Barry Lloyd said: "Results breed confidence and we proved we have the players to stick the ball in the net."

Andy Walker and Ben Carrington sealed Rebels' win with two terrific strikes from distance.

Knee put Rebels on their way after only three minutes with a shot on the turn from Chris Hibberd's free-kick. Worthing were pegged back ten minutes after the break when White scored with a cross-shot.

Paul Rapps restored the lead with a volley three minutes later and Gary Young made it 3-1 with a 64th-minute penalty after Carrington was brought down by sub Roy Newman. Walker thundered in Rebels' fourth from 30 yards and, after Croydon's Darren Hall converted a penalty after Tom Graves held back Mark Tompkins, Carrington capped Worthing's fine win with a 25-yard strike.
