Eastbourne Borough went five points clear at the top of the eastern division after a superb 2-0 win at Histon.

Former Albion striker Scott Ramsay scored twice to take his tally to 33 for the season and secure another three valuable points.

Manager Garry Wilson was delighted with the result and the performance.

He said: "With this being our game in hand over Bashley, it made the win more important.

"I picked this game out to be one of the toughest but we performed magnificently and deserved the win."

Histon started off superbly and but for poor finishing they could have been two-up inside three minutes.

But in their first attack on five minutes Borough took the lead.

Justin Harris won the ball in the midfield and after a one-two with John Westcott he fortuitously found Ramsay, who turned well to fire the ball home.

Both sides were playing some lovely football with Histon attacking at every opportunity.

But the best defence in the league were not letting anything through and an excellent save by Paul Stark kept out Adrian Cambridge's free-kick.

Borough made it 2-0 on 44 minutes when John Price's header found Ramsay, who toe-poked home his second of the game from six yards.

Histon put Borough under pressure after the interval and should have equalised on 57 minutes but Neil Kennedy fired over from six yards.
