A misleading impression may have been created in The Argus on Monday about the Conservative group's stance on the King Alfred centre.
We do want to see the King Alfred refurbished as a centre for sport but are not happy with the prospect of Canary Wharf-style buildings on the seafront.
What we have said is if housing is the only way to fund a redevelopment scheme we would want to see that housing somewhere else.
