Eighties pop star David Van Day has accused rival singer Sonia of using dirty tricks to put him on a plane home to Brighton.
Mr Van Day and Thereza Bazar, who perform as the duo Dollar, were the first contestants eliminated from ITV1's reality TV show Reborn In The USA.
Dollar and Sonia had both been nominated for eviction from the show, which involves former chart stars trying their luck in America.
Viewers voted to keep Sonia on the tour bus but Mr Van Day accused her of manipulating the phone poll.
He said her threat to quit the show last week was just a cynical stunt to win public sympathy.
Mr Van Day, who runs a fast-food outlet in Brighton city centre, said: "She knew exactly what she was doing with that stunt she pulled and it worked."
He branded her vocal performance "dire" and "diabolical" and said she only beat Dollar after her web site orchestrated a voting campaign.
The site also made critical comments about Dollar, prompting her management to apologise.
