I was appalled at the outrageous decision of the headteacher of Blatchington Mill School, Neil Hunter, to suspend a group of pupils for taking part in a peace demonstration, particularly at a time when the Government is asking schools to teach students about "citizenship".
An important part of citizenship, surely, is the ability to question what is happening in the world and try to influence the course of events.
One must question the wisdom and judgement of the head. His behaviour is a poor lesson for his pupils.
I hope the governors of the school have the bravery to stand up to him, reverse this decision and ask him to consider his future.
It does no one any good to act in such a way. Teaching children that might is right is the way of war.
