Lewes suffered a 2-1 defeat in a bad tempered match at home to Havant.
There were five yellow cards and tempers frayed near the end as Lewes pushed for an equaliser.
Havant had two players sin-binned in the first half but Lewes failed to take advantage.
In fact, it was the visitors who pushed for the opener with goalkeeper Marc Wilkinson making good saves and Adrian Bettesworth making one superb saving tackle.
Wilkinson continued to impress in the second half but was beaten twice by field goals.
Lewes rallied in the last 15 minutes and pulled a goal back five minutes from time with a penalty flick from Jon Hooker after Andy Pike's shot hit a defender's foot on the goalline.
The last five minutes were frantic and three more players were carded including Lewes duo Bettesworth and Marnix Achterbergh.
Lewes manager Paul Benoy said: "We should have got a point. Their game plan was to hit us hard on the break and that is what they did, but it was even."
