Horsham climbed four places in the Kent/Sussex Regional League with a 3-1 win at home to Herne Bay.

After falling a goal behind, Richard Blakesley levelled before half time and then scored again in the second half after good work from skipper Richard Lowe. Lowe wrapped up victory with a penalty flick after Stuart Donaldson's shot had struck a defender's foot.

Lowe said: "I wanted six points from our four games before Christmas and we have got that with two games to go."

Worthing won 7-1 against a Gillingham Anchorians side they lost to twice last season. Mark Duncan opened the scoring and further goals followed before half time from skipper David Edmondson (two) and Matt Ansell.

Gillingham replied early in the second half but Worthing responded with Ansell scoring twice to complete his hat-trick before Edmondson scored his third of the game from the penalty spot.

Edmondson said: "That was our third win on the spin and we will looking to keep our run going against Brighton next weekend in what should be our toughest test of the season."

Mid Sussex ensured all four Sussex sides won by beating Sevenoaks 3-2.

Mids fell two goals behind inside ten minutes but Phil Middleton and Simon Hobden struck to make the scores level by half time.

James Goodwin scored the winner from close range after the break.
