Hastings midfielder James Body has a point to prove against Eastbourne Borough in the big Sussex FA Trophy match tomorrow.

The 20-year-old played for Borough's youth team for seven years but says he was frozen out following the arrival of manager Garry Wilson in 1999.

Body joined Eastbourne Town but it was not until a summer move to Hastings that he started to fulfil his potential.

He said: "It was disappointing. Before Gary arrived I had played a lot of games for the first team and myself and several other youth team players were told we were the future of the club.

"However, after he arrived I hardly got a game. I've got a point to prove because I felt I should have been given more of a chance.

"I don't know what I did or said but I knew where I stood. It's a shame, I'd love to play for them. I used to watch them when I was a kid.

"I know a lot of the lads there and the facilities are superb but I'm glad I joined Hastings. I'm playing a higher standard of football here."

Body is likely to start because Hastings are suffering with injuries and suspensions.

United have not won in five matches and they have scored just one goal during that barren run.

Nevertheless, the Dr Martens premier division side are the favourites to progress at the expense of Borough, from the eastern division.

Manager George Wakeling is anticipating a tough clash with his rivals from 15 miles down the A259.

He said: "I'm very pleased we are at home but I tend to think that people from both clubs know all about each other.

"I've got four or so players who live in Eastbourne. I'd have been happier if we were playing a Ryman League side."

United's poor form has coincided with a raft of absentees.

Adam Flanagan and Landry Zahana-Oni are starting four and three match bans respectively for red cards at Stevenage in the FA Cup earlier this month.

Stuart Myall is likely to be on the bench because he is still feeling the effects of a knee injury and striker Ellis Remy has yet to fully recover from hamstring trouble.

Danny Simmonds (calf) and Duncan McArthur (ankle) are also carrying knocks but are expected to start.

Midfielder Paul Ruddy is available after a one-match ban.

There will be no room for sentiment when Wilson leads out Borough. He captained and managed Hastings during ten successful years at the club and some of the players he signed are still there.

Wilson said: "We go there as underdogs as they are the premier side. It is a nice change and takes the pressure off.

"They have not won in five matches and we should go into the game full of confidence. "
