Thank you for the article on Selma Montford (The Argus, November 11) outlining her role as a conservationist and environmentalist in Brighton and Hove over the past 30 years.

Everyone who lives here owes her a debt of gratitude for her tireless work to retain the essential and unique character of the city.

It is not an easy path and she has given so much of her time, energy and expertise to pursuing it on behalf of us all and future generations.

As you mentioned, Selma is an open-minded lady with a sense of humour and a keen sense of history who understands the value of our legacy of buildings.
