People are generally pleased with the service they receive from Worthing Borough Council's planning department, according to two customer surveys.

However, the planning survey was based on a response rate of just 15 per cent after only 129 of 850 questionnaires sent out were filled in and returned.

The other survey, relating to building control, had a slightly better return rate of 26.5 per cent.

In the first survey, 14.7 per cent thought the service was excellent and 51.1 per cent very good while the second revealed results of 44 per cent and 49.3 per cent respectively.

But customers suggested a number of improvements which are now being looked at by councillors.
