As a new resident of Worthing and having played golf at Hill Barn, I am amazed at the stupidity of Worthing Borough Council in wanting to sell such an asset.
If it cannot run this jewel at a profit, it should give up looking after any open space and sell them all.
Hill Barn recreation ground would make a fine building site for new social housing, Stoke Abbot car park, fine for flats, Homefield Park would do for a new hospital car park, Broadwater Green, Victoria Park, the list is endless. Look at the money that could be raised to fritter away.
Maybe The Sentinel could find out what the council is going to waste this cash on?
I am also told the land Hill Barn is on was left to the residents of Worthing - so is the sale legal?
