Lewes marched into the second round of the Ryman League's Bryco Cup with a 3-0 defeat of Division One North side Wivenhoe Town at the Dripping Pan.

The Rooks gave an entertaining demonstration of dominance in the first half but wasted a string of good chances.

On 14 minutes Germain Amanuel provided an excellent centre for Stuart Hack whose header scudded over Matt Greenley's bar and a few minutes later Danny Davis presented Jon Palmer with a great opening which was squandered.

Another glaring miss by Hack was followed by one from Amanuel.

On the half hour mark, referee Woodward ignored a Wivenhoe handball and let Tony Reid break clear but Greenley saved well.

Palmer finally opened the floodgates for the Rooks on 39 minutes when he converted a Davis cross.

Man-of-the-match Reid headed in a second right after the interval and he nodded in his second on 53 minutes from a right wing cross to seal a convincing victory.

An 18th minute goal by Andy Ducille earned Eastbourne Borough a 1-0 win at Fleet in the first round of the Dr Martens League Cup.

Borough included several youngsters from the reserves in their squad, but were still too strong for the Hampshire team who were continually forced on the defensive.

It was Borough keeper Paul Stark who saw early action when he bravely dived at Stuart Findlay's feet in the third minute.

But Borough were soon taking the initiative and their first attempt at goal came from the debutant Dave Morgan whose 25 yarder tested home keeper Simon Arthur.

It was another 25 yard drive that led to the only goal of the game. Ben Austin's fine effort rebounded off the post and Ducille, following up, drove the ball home.

After this Borough dominated with Paul Stevens narrowly heading over from John Westcott's free-kick.

Even kicking up the slope in the second half, Garry Wilson's men continued to run the game.

Stark made a great save late on to ensure victory.
