We would like to give some well-deserved praise to all the police, paramedics and air ambulance staff who attended a road accident on October 22 on the Steyning to Storrington road.

The two victims were extremely brave and lucky enough to walk away from their wrecked van but police and medics were efficient, kind and on the spot within minutes.

Prior to their arrival, we gave what small help we could but a lady first-aider provided not only a first-aid kit but also a towel and car seat cover.

She left upon the arrival of the paramedics and without her possessions. We would be delighted to either post them back to her or (if she can wait until spring) we will deliver them in person when next visiting our native Sussex.

Praise must also go to the motorists who rallied around to assist until the police arrived, clearing the road of tree branches and directing traffic - they were superb.

Finally, our best wishes to Mr Brian and his son for a speedy recovery.
