Our pick of the shows not to be missed: Shakespeare 4 Kidz, Catch Your Breath, Ticklish and Brief Encounter.

Shakespeare 4 Kidz, Pavilion Theatre, Worthing, October 23-24
The title says it all: This is quite simply the Bard re-interpreted for children.

Aimed at kids as young as five, the two plays on offer here (Macbeth and A Midsummer Night's Dream) are stripped down to their bare bones and injected with good clean fun.

This is a valuable opportunity to show kids that great literature doesn't have to be boring.

Tickets cost from £6.50. Call 01903 206206.

Catch Your Breath, Gardner Arts Centre, Falmer, October 25-27
Leading children's theatre company Theatre-Rites looks set to delight children from six to 60 with its new show.

The work examines the world of kids at play, focusing on the ubiquitous desire to build dens and hidey-holes. Combining art, animation, puppetry and music, Catch Your Breath is an innovative look at our sense of space.

Tickets cost £6 (family ticket £16). Call 01273 685861.

Ticklish, Gardner Arts Centre, Falmer, October 22
After international success with MM, Tete and LureLureLure, award-winning choreographer Jasmin Vardimon brings her company to Brighton.

Using a quartet of dancers as well as video projection, Ticklish is an exploration of the human condition that pays particular attention to the blurred boundaries between pleasure and pain.

Tickets cost £10.50 (£8.50 concs). Call 01273 685861.

Brief Encounter, Connaught Theatre, Worthing, until October 19
Classic drama returns to the stage as a bored housewife attempts to break from her stale suburban marriage with a stranger she meets at a train station.

Based on Noel Coward's stage play Still Life, this version is produced by the Middle Ground Theatre Company and stars Karen Dury and Richard Walsh.

Tickets from £15 to £18. Call 01903 206206.
