Duncan McArthur saw red as Hastings United drew 1-1 at home to Chelmsford City.

The midfielder, who served a four-match ban only last month, was sent off after picking up a second yellow card 17 minutes from time.

McArthur collected his first booking for a foul and got his marching orders after a tussle with Sam Keevill.

To compound Hastings' night Ellis Remy suffered what appeared to be a recurrence of his hamstring injury just ten minutes after coming on as a substitute.

Hastings made the early running and twice hit the woodwork in the opening 20 minutes.

Danny Simmonds' well struck shot hit the inside of the post and Adam Flanagan saw a header smack against the crossbar.

City took the lead on 24 minutes through a precise finish from Keevill.

Hastings equalised just past the half hour when Flanagan headed home after the keeper had missed a corner.

Both teams had chances to win it late on as City hit the post and Steve Yates forced a good save at the other end.

In the John O'Hara League Cup, Horsham YMCA beat Broadbridge Heath 2-0 with goals from Mark Francis and Paul Young.

In Matthew Clark County League division one, Dominic Shepherd, who normally plays for Withdean, scored twice for Shoreham as they won 3-0 at Littlehampton. Neil Francis also netted.

Southwick defeated Chichester 2-0 at Old Barn Way with Tony Holden and Ben Milford netting in the final 17 minutes.

The biggest crowd of the night saw Steve Roberts score a late equaliser to earn Three Bridges a 2-2 draw at Sidley United.

The hosts twice led through Lee Wood and Kevin Rose but those efforts were cancelled out by Pat Massaro, with his 12th of the campaign, and Roberts, in the 86th minute.

Tommy Pattenden netted twice as Whitehawk beat Hailsham 3-1.
