Computer software company Spear IT has received an internationally recognised quality standard ISO 9001 for excellent business practice 11 months after starting up.

Launched in October 2001, the company provides web sites incorporating the most up-to-date technology for small businesses.

Small and medium-sized firms work alongside its staff to develop a web site in a matter of days.

East Grinstead-based manager Arthur Wallis said: "To achieve the ISO 9001 standard after such a short time shows how committed everyone is at Spear IT.

"We operate in a competitive industry and one in which many customers rely on the advice and expertise of industry experts.

"It is invaluable for customers to be able to tell who provides a quality service. We have worked hard to ensure our business practices are second-to-none.

ISO 9001 underpins the way we think and our determination to be customer-focused at all times."

Mr Wallis said companies worldwide would eventually adopt quality standard ISO 9001 because it ensured consistent quality between business operations.

Customers would come to rely on it for reassurance that they were dealing with a reputable company.
